Insight according to Gary Klein:

Insights shift us toward a new story, a new set of beliefs that are more accurate, more comprehensive, more useful. They change how we act, see, feel and desire. They change how we understand

I think it’s a good measure of success for all the projects researchers undertake: have we changed how people understand as a result of our work? How will people need to act now they know..?

The definition also helps us be more precise about ‘insight’. We over-use the term in lieu of ‘research’ because it sounds a bit more useful, but it’s only useful when it leads to change.
